I want to be able to know exactly how the AI diplomacy was changed, the exact anomalies and what they do that were added, etc etc. Thanks in advance!

I’m a territory guy and the combat bonus within my own territory also allows me to use generals to expand into territories with the citadel before attacking and destroying them. Plus I love starting with additional territory, especially if rare resources are nearby.
This can lead to better trading opportunities and a solid rise in cash in the early to mid game which gives you a better chance in later ages.
The pathfinders allowing you to choose what ancient ruin bonus to have as well, allows you to boost your game early on.

I tend to follow the autocracy game with them and choose a religion that boosts food production in peace time in order to take more advantage of the initial territory spread.
Also, happiness from walls and castles etc counters the unhappiness from large pop and protects against jealous civs attacking for resources :-)

Comment on Modding Torchlight: Useful Torchlight Mods by Webbstre http://www.manapool.co.uk/useful-torchlight-mods/#comment-2459 Mon, 17 Jul 2017 12:30:00 +0000 http://www.manapool.co.uk/?p=43#comment-2459 Hello all!

I’m Webbstre, the Administrator and former owner of Runic Games Fansite. I’m going around trying to find places where people have linked to or mentioned our previous mod manager tools and update the conversations with info about our latest mod manager, ModDrop!

We had a lot of trouble in the past with the people who worked on Torchleech, HotSpot, and HotSpot 2.0 all leaving mid-project, which I feel like kept us from properly competing with Steam’s Workshop. However, not everyone uses Steam, and our new mod manager is pretty awesome, so if you found this thread years later via Google I hope you don’t think the community is dead and the mods unsupported.

The mods are all still over at http://www.runicgamesfansite.com, where they’ve always been (so I hope this doesn’t look like spam for posting it). If you have any questions hit me up at webbstre@runicgamesfansite.com and I’ll do my best to answer promptly!

Comment on PC or Online Play: How Do You Like Your Free Casino Games? by David http://www.manapool.co.uk/pc-or-online-play-how-do-you-like-your-free-casino-games/#comment-2458 Fri, 12 May 2017 07:21:00 +0000 http://www.manapool.co.uk/?p=9499#comment-2458 I totally agree with Elen. According to me you don’t have to pay for the online games and people are more interested in playing all these games in real. I play online games a lot: Jungle Boogie, Twitcher, crazy caveman are my favorite. You can play them in many online on my sites. I would recommend to use sweeps-games.

This is quite an old mod now, and I don’t believe it was ever translated to French. I was working on additional features and do have more assets, balancing, events, etc. in a development version but I got stuck on something and the developers (Amplitude) promised to provide some assistance/answer but then never did. As a result I had to abandon the work. It was quite disappointing, really..

Comment on Top 10 Best Retro RPGs on the PC by sinnerman http://www.manapool.co.uk/top-10-best-retro-rpgs-on-the-pc/#comment-2455 Sat, 31 Dec 2016 21:46:00 +0000 http://www.manapool.co.uk/?p=820#comment-2455 “and I don’t know anyone who agrees with you”

You’re lying because…..your comments section.

My
point is retro is relative. For the vast majority people that played
the games of your list when they were 16 or older, this isn’t retro.
Retro for that same vast majority is 1995 and older, the majority being
SNES level graphics, pixels, gameplay pre PS1/GC, not 3D, etc . If you’re really 36, then you are the exception. If you weren’t then at least one person in your comments section would agree with you and literally no one does. If you were aged 0-7 in 1997 then maybe, MAYBE, these are retro.

“Some of them defined their genres.”

Agreed. That is not the same as retro, though. Look, I’m glad anyone can make a website and you’re brave and hardworking to put yourself out there. Just…..maybe you should know the definition of words if you want to be taken seriously. But hey, a least you got clicks, right? Ad revenue! Cha-ching!

Just because there are older games, doesn’t mean that some of these aren’t retro.

It’s all in how you define retro anyway. I could quote Master of Orion 1 – but since the 2nd game was much better, I never would.
Equally, I could quote something like Angband (or Zangband), but most people wouldn’t have a clue, thus making it a pointless discussion.
